Gammon Leverages Equinix to Power Next Era of Smart, AI Driven Construction in Hong Kong and Singapore

Equinix’s interconnected hybrid multicloud infrastructure underpins Gammon’s unified AI platform and Smart Construction 4.0 vision

HONG KONG – May 13, 2026 – Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the world’s digital infrastructure company®, today announced that Gammon Construction, a leading construction and engineering company in Asia, has piloted AI platform, an AI‑ready, hybrid multicloud architecture on Equinix, to accelerate its digital transformation and advance industry‑leading safety and operational standards. With this new digital backbone managed by Logicalis, Gammon aims at scaling real‑time intelligence, advanced analytics and human-AI collaboration across its construction projects in Hong Kong and Singapore, setting new industry benchmarks for safety, productivity and operational excellence.

For more than six decades, Gammon has shaped the region’s urban environment. Today, against the industry backdrop of an aging workforce, heavy site documentation and increasingly stringent industry‑wide safety requirements, the company is accelerating its transition towards  Smart Construction 4.0 with the pilot of a unified AI platform. The platform is a key component of Gammon’s digital infrastructure for its operations, where real-time data from digital twins, IoT sensors, drones and robotics can be centralized. By standardizing data, embedding AI agents into workflows and deploying digital tools to enhance precision, safety and productivity, Gammon is redefining what is possible for the construction industry.

“Gammon is committed to leading the industry’s transformation towards Smart Construction 4.0 and building a safer, smarter and more sustainable future,” said Leo Liu, Chief Technology Officer, Gammon Construction. “In the age of smart construction, it is no longer just about connecting hardware and software; it is about seamlessly integrating carbon-based human intelligence and silicon-based artificial intelligence on a unified AI‑native platform. Leverage Equinix’s interconnection services, we are building a platform that can seamlessly connect workers, devices and robotics, as well as to train advanced models.”

Logicalis leveraged Equinix Fabric® and Network Edge to enable seamless, secure connectivity between Gammon’s Hong Kong and Singapore operations, as well as dynamic bandwidth provisioning for cloud and AI workloads, benefiting the construction firm with secure, software‑defined, low‑latency connectivity across its geographies. Gammon also aims to leverage this new network solution to support model training, AI inferencing and data ingestion from hundreds of devices and job sites. By reducing network complexity and enabling seamless multicloud mobility, this architectural approach streamlines data integration, accelerates AI processing and reduces network costs to solidify a foundation for scalable, future-ready digital infrastructure.

Joanne Hon, Managing Director, Hong Kong, Equinix, said: “Gammon demonstrates how traditional industries can transform rapidly when they modernize their IT infrastructure. As construction undergoes a profound shift toward data driven, AI enabled operations, we are proud that Equinix is helping enterprises like Gammon overcome longstanding challenges and advance their vision. With industry leading interconnection and hybrid multicloud capabilities, Equinix continues to empower customers to reimagine what is possible and drive digital acceleration across every sector of Hong Kong’s economy.”

One of Gammon’s first proof points is SmartXR, built on its new AI Platform to transform site safety. In just two weeks, Gammon has piloted the solution across five project sites, using video analytics captured from wearable cameras to identify dynamic risks - an essential aspect of managing the constantly changing conditions on construction sites. The pilot has delivered promising results, with 60% increase in the number of risk factors detected compared with traditional visual inspection. The video footage from cameras, which will be expanded to robot dogs and drones, is streamed into AI models that generate dynamic risk ratings and actionable insights for safety officers. “This is not science fiction, but everyday safety powered by AI,” said Leo, noting that SmartXR makes inspection more frequent and thorough, unlocking productivity gains beyond what human operators could achieve alone.

Ultimately, Gammon aims to seamlessly blend human expertise with AI. Over time, the platform is expected to support a broader range of workflows, using an infrastructure enabled by Equinix and managed by Logicalis to power human-machine collaboration, accelerate digital service development and set new benchmarks for construction safety, integrity and excellence.
