Equinix’s footprint across six continents supports the global expansion of Australia-based Bigmate’s AI quality analysis solutions
SYDNEY, Australia – December 9, 2025 – Bigmate, a leader in AI-powered workplace safety and operational intelligence, has partnered with Equinix to deploy its Anomaly and Contamination Identification System (ACIS) – a paradigm shift that turns traditional AI training approaches upside down. By leveraging Equinix’s resilient digital infrastructure and robust cloud ecosystem, Bigmate can privately and securely interconnect with cloud providers and industry stakeholders to deliver real-time, AI-driven quality control for industries ranging from food processing to manufacturing.
The deployment in Equinix’s International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centre in Sydney ensures Bigmate can continue to offer data sovereignty within Australia - a critical requirement for customers given the sensitivities of the data being collected and analysed. Equinix also provides the scalability and direct connectivity needed to support Bigmate's growth ambitions.
Known for its core workplace safety solutions in high-risk industries, Bigmate’s new Anomaly Contaminant Identification System utilises the latest computer vision technology and AI to identify product defects, contaminants, and production inconsistencies during the manufacturing process with exceptional speed and accuracy. The AI-driven solution requires robust, secure, and low-latency infrastructure to process vast amounts of data efficiently and transform it into actionable intelligence.
Using Equinix Fabric®, a software-defined interconnection solution, Bigmate creates secure connections between its edge devices, cloud providers, and customer networks, allowing for flexible and scalable deployment of its ACIS platform across distributed locations. Equinix Internet Access® (EIA) provides the dual-port resiliency needed to keep Bigmate’s systems running smoothly, offering scalable bandwidth to manage sudden data spikes during peak detection periods while ensuring the consistent low latency required by its real-time edge systems.
Gregory Graham, Chief Operating Officer, Bigmate, said: “ACIS fundamentally changes how businesses approach quality control – instead of cataloguing endless defects, we teach the system what ‘good’ looks like. This paradigm shift combined with Equinix’s stable and proven high-performance foundation provides what we need to deliver this AI-driven capability to our customers. Importantly, it allows us to interconnect with our partners and customers privately and securely while scaling flexibly as we grow.”
Equinix's digital infrastructure enables Bigmate to offer its customers enhanced performance and security. By leveraging Equinix's carrier diverse ecosystem, Bigmate can establish direct, private interconnections, bypassing the public internet to ensure data integrity for sensitive production data. This is particularly critical for applications include detecting contaminants in food products or verifying the quality of palletised goods before shipment. In Australia, Bigmate works with major mining companies, such as BMA, amongst other customers like Infrabuild, Etex Group, Visy and Coronado Global. In the United States, Bigmate has active operations serving customers Ascend and Tyson Foods.
Guy Danskine, Managing Director, Equinix Australia, said: "Equinix is pleased to support Bigmate as they bring innovative AI-powered solutions to market. This is another example of how digital infrastructure and interconnection provide the secure, scalable, and high-performance environment that empowers companies like Bigmate to set new standards for efficiency and quality while meeting customer data sovereignty needs. We look forward to supporting their continued growth, both here in Australia and internationally."
Bigmate also plans to leverage Equinix's global data centre footprint to support its operations in North America and Europe, enabling faster rollouts for international clients and ensuring consistent, reliable service across regions.
