Equinix Launches AI-Ready Data Center with Direct Connectivity to Hong Kong–Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park

Purpose-built facility empowers startups and enterprises with high-performance infrastructure and integrated AI testing environments to accelerate cross-border innovation in Hong Kong

HONG KONG – June 16, 2026 – Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the world’s digital infrastructure company®, today officially opened HK6, its sixth International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data center in the city.  Equipped with liquid-cooling technology, the purpose-built facility is designed to meet the power density, thermal efficiency and operational resilience required for AI innovations. Combining dense interconnection with low-latency access to ecosystems across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), HK6 will help turn the city's AI ambition into practical outcomes that drive global innovation and productivity.

With an initial investment of US$ 124 million, HK6 provides 1,000 cabinets in its first phase and is expected to scale to 3,550 cabinets at full build-out. The launch aligns with the Hong Kong government’s push to advance the city’s technology and AI agenda, including the development of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park (HSITP) as a cross-border launchpad for innovation. Interconnected with Equinix’s existing campus and HSITP, HK6 enables secure access to tenants and startups across GBA, fostering co-development opportunities and accelerating research and development.

Through the recently announced AI Discovery Hub with HPE and NVIDIA, HK6 further accelerates AI adoption by offering an open testing environment where enterprises and startups can securely build, test, validate and scale AI applications across a neutral, efficient hybrid and multicloud environments. Enterprises can assess the performance and compatibility of their workflows under real-world conditions before full-scale deployment, de-risking AI investment and reducing time to market.

HK6 empowers enterprises with Equinix Fabric®, enabling direct and dynamic interconnection between distributed infrastructure and the rich ecosystem central to their AI strategies worldwide. To manage these connections at scale, Fabric Intelligence® adds advanced observability and AI-driven insights, automating how connectivity is provisioned, optimized, and maintained across distributed environments. By reducing manual effort and enabling proactive network optimization, organizations can keep distributed AI workloads running reliably as demands evolve, freeing teams to focus on accelerating innovation.

In Hong Kong, Equinix operates a highly interconnected network of six IBX data centers, strategically distributed across key locations to support performance, resilience and ecosystem density. At the heart of this footprint is a carrier-dense and ecosystem-rich campus anchored by the Equinix Internet Exchange® and Equinix Internet Access® in Tsuen Wan, where HK1, HK2, HK3 and HK6 are closely clustered to enable high-speed, low-latency interconnection among networks, cloud and AI service providers and enterprises. These facilities form a distributed yet tightly integrated network that supports mission-critical workloads, hybrid multicloud architectures, and the growing demands of AI-driven applications, while complying with sovereignty requirements.

HK6 continues Equinix’s sustainability leadership in Hong Kong, maintaining 100% renewable energy coverage in line with the company’s global commitment to reach full renewable coverage across its retail IBX footprint by 2030.
